Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam set the direction for the mission in 2019
On 18 January 2019, Recently, Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam organized a meeting of the Standing Committee of Animal Husbandry Association in Hanoi to evaluate the results in 2018 and set the direction for the year 2019. The conference was hosted by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Vang, Chairman of Vietnam Animal Husbandry Association.
Report on livestock industry results in 2018
The report of the Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam said that 2018 was considered to be the bumper season of the Vietnamese livestock industry in terms of development targets. In particular, the pig raising industry increased and exceeded the plan in terms of both per head and production, reaching 28.15 million heads with more than 3.8 million tons of meat; poultry farming with a total herd of over 400 million heads, meat production reached more than 1 million tons; egg production reached more than 11 billion fruits; milk production reached more than 963.000 tons. The buffalo herd reached 2.43 million; cows reached 5.8 million; dairy cows had 294.000; the total number of sheep goats is about 2.58 million.
2018 also marked the development of large livestock products since the price of pigs has increased, helping farmers and enterprises recover from the crisis in 2017. However, despite the export of livestock products in the year 2018 turnover of about 1 billion USD, import turnover of ivarieties and livestock products and feed ingredients are still high.
Regarding the task of building and development, in 2018, Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam has achieved many great results in building and developing the Association. In particular, participating in activities of being reviewer contributing numerous ideas to the draft Law on Animal Husbandry, helping the legislative body to issue the Law on Animal Husbandry 2018, joining in critique and social assessment activities, information and dissemination of knowledge, scientific research activities, foreign relations activities and international cooperation all achieved good results.
Orientation for livestock sector 2019
At the conference, the Standing Committee of Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam set the direction for missions in 2019.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Vang, Chairman of Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam, the association should continue to promote the organization of Association activities, actively participate in policy review activities of ministries and branches, build many specific operation programs and closely linked with production activities of farmers across the country. In addition, it is necessary to have practical activities to affirm the position as well as the role of connecting the state, enterprises and farmers to contribute to the effective and sustainable development of the livestock sector in 2019 and in the future.
