Aquaculture is one of the strengths of Vietnam’s Central provinces, including Quang Nam province. The People’s Committee of Quang Nam province recently has shown the concurrent text which allows Song Thao JSC to research the investment location for the project of producing high tech agriculture at Tam Tien village (Thanh Mountain).
The total investment cost for this project is over 49 billion VND. With the large-scale area of 6.94ha, Ban Long hamlet (Tam Tien, Thanh Mountain) will invest in manufacturing a variety of clean agricultural products such as cantaloupe, seasoning vegetables, shrimp… The first stage of this investment is estimated to start from now until 08/2019; the second stage is from 2019.
Before that, Quang Nam province also enacted decision on approving the Project of investing, manufacturing white-leg shrimp, black tiger prawn and other fisheries in saltwater and brackish water following VietGap standard with the investment cost of 25 billion VND owned by Nam My Quang Nam company.
The project is conducted at Phuong Tan Hamlet (Binh Nam, Thang Binh) which belongs to the area for production and testing of aquatic species in Quang Nam with over 24 thousand meter squares with the designed capacity of 1 billion seeds/year, including white-leg shrimp (about 500 million / year), black tiger shrimp (about 250 million / year), cobia (about 50 million fish/year), grouper fish (about 50 million fish/year), yellowfin (about 50 million fish/year) and crab (about 100 million crabs /year).
The estimated starting time of this project is 11/2019.
However, in order to develop aquaculture models following VietGAP standard in general and fish farming in particular, it is necessary to have a large investment capital and technical support from higher specialized levels to create safe and clean products.
